October
24th Is Take Back Your Time Day!
Take
Back Your Time Day is an initiative of the Simplicity Forum, and a
project of The Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy at
Cornell University. It was held for the first time in 2003.
The
date falls nine weeks before the end of the year and symbolizes the
fact that we Americans now work an average of nine weeks more easy
year than do our peers in Western Europe.

THEME :LET'S GET BACK TO THE TABLE
Their PR says “People need to be reminded of why we want to take
back our time and the focus this year is about how we are neglecting
relationships -- not taking enough time for family, friends,
community, and civic engagement."
“Family mealtime has disappeared due to parents work long hours and
kids being over programmed with activities. People are suffering
from loneliness because they are too busy to spend time with family
and friends. People are spending less time participating in
community and civic activities."
There are many things happening in the world that we have no control
over, but as business owners and individuals we can control how we
spend our time by identifying our values and scheduling our time so
that more of our time is spent on the things we value the most.
Getting organized will give you more time to do the things that
are most important to you.
How I
Have Helped People Take Back Their Time
Business
Owner: 3 Hour Transformation
The
manager of an insurance office called me because was working 12 hour
days and Saturdays trying to wade through the paper piles on his
desk.
We
created a paper flow system for him, which
saved him so much time that he could leave the office earlier
some week days and had Saturdays free.

Organizing: SOS from Expectant Mom
The
husband of an expectant Mom, who is an attorney, and mother of a 2
and 4 year old, realized she needed some help organizing their home
before their 3rd child arrived. We focused on organizing the entry
way, 1st floor bathroom, kitchen, children’s clothing, and toy
areas. The goal was to make it easier for Dad, Grandma, and any
other helping hands, to find things when Mom was in the hospital or
busy with the baby. I did the hands on organizing so that Mom could
spend some time with the big sisters. We finished just in the nick
of time because her bouncing baby girl arrived ten days early.
Telephone Consults: Help Is Only a Phone Call Away
A
single parent, who was working mega hours a week, called me to help
her with planning her time at home and at work and organizing her
workspace. After only three
telephone consults, she was getting more
accomplished at work, thanks to her new paper flow systems, and
enjoying more time with her son.
